  1. In addition to country borders, major cities and significant bodies of water, physical maps indicate the location of landforms like deserts, mountains and plains.

A political map is a map that shows lines defining countries, states or territories. It is unlike other maps in that its purpose is to show borders. A political map also makes a deliberate political statement about which areas of the earth belong to a country or state.

  2. a political map shows divisions of countries, states, townships, etc.  rivers and mountain ranges might help direct those divisions, but generally it's where governments decide a line should be drawn.

splitting and/or combining cultures is often the downside of political boundaries.

a physical map typically does not show or severely downplays political boundaries usually just there for reference.  they will show geographic characteristics of the area;  elevations and such.

  3. A physical map has mountains and elevations

    A political map shows borders

  4. Political maps show boundaries as defined by map such as countries, cities, states, etc.

Physical maps show the physical terrain of the Earth. A physical map would show mountains, lowlands, icecaps, etc.

  5. A political map has man-made lines representing political boundaries like countries, states and cities.  A political map does not usually show the terrain or vegetation of an area.

A physical map shows the natural landscape of an area without the man-made boundary lines (e.g. countries or states) of a political map.

  6. political: towns, cities, counties, countries, etd

physical: mountains, rivers, lakes, valleys, faults, etc
