  1. Some people take pain meds recreationally for the 'loopy' feeling it gives them...just like drinking alcohol or smoking pot (for example).


  2. There is no medical benefit to taking a medication when it's not indicated.

  3. All drugs have risks and benefits.  The benefit of opiates is pain relief, which is balanced by all the side effects.  If you take one when you don't need one, there is no benefit; just side effects that are harmful.

  4. There is no benefit to your body. The less artificial pharmaceuticals that enter your body the better off you are in the long run. In addition to becoming addictive and or you devoloping a high tolerance for it, it puts a strain on your kidneys and liver.

    If there comes a time when you really need it for pain relief it won't be effective.
