  1. all fruits are inherently very beneficial. avocados contain high concentrations of omega three and other good fatty acids. they are also quite delicious.

  2. one thing to remember with cholesterol.. it only comes from an animal source...and that is the only way. Nuts, avocados, even french fries that are fried in corn, canola, vegetable, olive oil, peanut oil... they don't have cholesterol... fat, yes, but not cholesterol.

Avocado has the good fat... it is called monosaturated fat which is good for the heart. It shouldn't be eaten in large quantities because it is fattening, but, good for the heart.

    hope this heps

  3. it is high in  cholesterol ...but fortunately for us avocado  lovers it is the "good" cholesterol

  4. Avocados contain no cholesterol but they are rather high fat for a fruit or vegetable. Some people apparently confuse cholesterol with fat.

Harmful? No, not unless you are allergic to them.

They are loaded with vitamins and minerals.

I see no reason why avocados would be considered an unhealthy food.

Maybe you wouldn't want to eat ten avocados every day (because of the high fat content), but I don't see why eating one every day would be bad.

  5. only good cholesterol, never bad. i eat about 3 a day. it has good fats and protein and so many vitamins. delicious too . you cant go wrong unless your despretly trying to lose weight

  6. Avocado contain monounsaturated fat; it can help to lower, total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol and raise HDL cholesterol to 11%.  But avocado can be harmfull to dog  and can cause difficulty breathing.

  7. Cholesterol comes only from animal-derived ingredients. Certain plants and fungi produce very trace amounts, but the figure is so low as to be dietarily insignificant. In other words, cholesterol comes only from animal-derived ingredients. :-)

Here are the nutrition facts for a raw avocado:

And of course, the obligatory wiki on cholesterol:

P.S. Avos are fantastic for you... in moderation!

  8. the avacado is completely safe, for dieters, and non-dieters alike.  It is high in "unsaturated fat" and "good cholesterol", which means science finally figured out that fat is good for you as long as nature makes it naturally.  vitamins are stored in lipids, or fat, in high concentration, and the avacado is pure fat.  you wont find a better source of vegetable protein, and as with all good fats, you will stay healthy and gain no weight, and enjoy your health as well as eating a delicious food.  pssst(dont forget a little salt, yummy!),   enjoy...mike r

  9. why not look at this list.

oh?   avocados are harmful?   interesting..  for what reason?  i eat avocados all the  time.....

  10. yes. what they all said above is true..

but remember.. even though its good. it is still high in fat.. so dont go overdoing it..

when the girl above says she eats 3 a day.. maybe she is a thin fit active person..

if you are trying to loose weight.. just incorporate a few slices or bites into your daily food intake.. I wouldnt go eating several a day thinking im dieting..

too much of anything, even if its a good thing can overdue it....

  11. Only drawback is being *relatively* high in fat/calories (for a fruit). Very good for you if you limit to like 1 a day, tops (unless you are super atheletic of course)

  12. avocados are high in omegas which is very good
