i am asking this question after going through a whole lot of questions and answers regarding creationism and the theory of evolution. i read a lot of bashing and nonsensical answers, then i started to think about why people in this world are so eager to know where we came from anyways. so if you could answer this question in a kind and civilized manner, that would be great.

  1. The question is of no importance at all. It is an unknowable so there is no reason to ponder it. It is better to just recognize that it does not lead to being a better person so it is not important.

  2. We learn from our mistakes and that can include the mistakes of our ancestors.

  3. Aside from being a naturally curious species; we need to understand our roots of existence to aid us in figuring out where we are technically headed as time passes (could be for scientific purposes or even religious/spiritual gratification).

As another co-answerer said, its not much different from a foster person trying to find his biological parents/roots...

Sometimes it gives us the boost we need to move forward.....sometimes it clarifies things in our hearts and minds that enable us to be fully content...to understand our capacities..

Some people just want a simple reason for existence....make sense of things, admit biological life as we know it...

Besides, asides from recent movements such as the Intelligent Design approach to "our existence"......neither side (religious nor creationism) really focus on all aspects that matter to our curiosities...one side only talks about creation and the time...and the other focuses on life today.....we can only truly benefit if both sides will accept each others' theories and base their conclusions together....that marriage will give us the explanation we need....we want!

(sorry, ,haven't had my coffe yet this morning ;p_)

  4. It's no different from adopted children hunting for biological parents.  We are an inquisitive animal - be delighted with that.

  5. i think its just because we don't know. and what we don't know will drive us crazy right?  just like the future, why people spend all that money on astrology and forecasts...same idea.  we just don't know, for sure.

Ps, also the idea of evolution threatens the idea of creationism which could cause some people to have to do a lot of backpedaling. lol.  and the pope would lose his bullet proof glass.  lol.  i'm kidding folks.  really.

  6. All the theories will only defeat the purpose of our belief in the one true God who created us. I believed there is this great power who is responsible for this amazing perfect universe. So I do not really look for answers of the why and how I exist.

  7. What is wrong with wanting to know something?  It's part of our history for a start, it's part of the world's history and it may be beneficial to know it.

Additionally the our knowledge of evolution aids in medical studies and practices among other things.  I think for that reason alone it should be researched.

Now my question to you.  Why are you questioning the desire for knowledge?  Please do not tell me that believe that "the theory of evolution has no benefit to mankind"...

  8. this question is to deep for me....
