  1. If you are opposed to using blogspot or other blog services and want to have a domain name you can call your own, I'd recommend Godaddy.  There are other tools that you can use, such as free website/blog templates which can be edited with free html editors and uploaded with free FTP software.  You don't have to be a programmer to set one up!

Check http://directorix.net/articles.html for a better explanation of the basics.  Hope this helps!

  2. Hostgator.com is reasonable inexpensive and I might go that route soon since Yahoo hasn't given me good offers.  Host gator even has better graphics then Yahoo.  I've had frustrations with Yahoo in building my own site.  Now to market the dadgum thing through Yahoo is highly unreasonable.  I can understand if you were a major corporation but a start up business isn't competitive yet.  Can a gal get a break?!

  3. wordpress or blogger are free but I recommend your own keyword rich domain so that you have full control over it.

  4. I like blogger! It is free

  5. xanga.com   It is free and you can totally customize your site, post pictures, and type whatever you want.  It's also nice b/c you can create a group with friends and/or groups with other people that have similar interests.

  6. Although FREE sounds good, the "best" way to start a website is to spend a little money.

At a minimum, buy your own domain (Approx. $9 @ GoDaddy), get web hosting (can be as low as $4/month) and then use Wordpress (free) to build you blog on your own site.

Having your own site gives you complete control, rather than being constrained to another site's look and feel or URL structure. Additionally, having your own site makes it much easier to promote than using a free service.

  7. Duh... Myspace, its free and you can design it howerver you like, and have it public or private. It's one of the best places to network, some people have even become famous by advertizing through myspace.  check out mypage... myspace.com/sexylexyxxx

  8. Blogger.com is free and its great .

Lot of features and its by google so lots of add on features and can be integrated with all other google services like youtube, digg, etc,

  9. There is many great options and resources that are competitive.  The "best" can be determined through a comparison process. I would personally encourage you to take a look at several hosting options and compare features side-by-side. First compare feature-by-feature then dollar-for-dollar. Using this process will ensure that you get the best match for your needs and the most value for your money. As far as blogging, I blog through my website as well. It is a great way to make your site interactive. You can take a look at the web host that I use as one of your comparisons. http://blogorbuild.sitesell.com/Unstoppa...

They are a great example. Happy hunting!

    BEST WISHES!
