What is the best, smallest,best gas per km, suv around, how much to buy new or used?

I need a good suv that is excellent on gas and compact but still able to carry a few things in it and automatic with good pickup speed for highway....any suggestions? I prefer something a couple of years old because I can't afford all those taxes... Canadian prices...thank you.

I can't tell you what it costs in Canada, but the Chevy Tahoe is the best.

The regular version gets about 20mpg and the hybrid can get 30mpg. The regular Tahoe will cost about $36,000 US and the hybrid will cost around $50,000 US.

Combine that with the fact that GM has better quality than Ford or Jeep, according to Consumer Reports, and you've got a really great deal. The Suburban does not come in hybrid, will cost a couple thousand more but is bigger.

try lookin for a honda, or a chevy, if u want an older car ur best bet is to go jus lookin at cars, and read the paper on the window and it tells u how many miles it gets
