I have been doing some research on Full HD Lcd to buy a 32" model however it seem difficult to make a direct comparison. Can anybody give me insight on the latest models and price vs performance?

  1. The top two brands, in performance and reliability, are Panasonic Viera and Sony Bravia. A little less expensive, but still good quality is the Toshiba Regza followed, perhaps, by Sharp Aquos and Samsung. Go to your local library and read the HDTV articles in the 11/07 and 3/08 Consumer Reports. Pay attention tho the reliability section. I don't discuss exact models because you don't give a budget and it's a waste of time to write about a $1200 TV if you only have a $500 budget. Do stay away from the cheap, disposable, third tier TVs. http://www.hdguru.com/your-new-disposabl...

You say "Full HD." If you mean 1080p, that's fine, but understand that in a screen size smaller than 46"-50" most will not be able to tell the difference from a 720p/1080i set unless you sit a foot from the screen! Also, the ONLY 1080p signal that is now available is a BRD in movies and some games - not OTA or cable or satellite signals.

  2. Top 5 rated 32" from CNET

  3. Samsung It looks really different

Sony is top tier but technically it's the same tv they buy from samsung. I would have bought it but seriously Sony doesn't make their own tvs.

    Make sure to:

    you compare in store

    check the contrast ratio

and buy hdmi cables at monoprice .com (lower awg the better you probably want 26)
