I'm a student with a B.S. in Physics and I am about to finish my B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. I'm interested in working for an aerospace company but I've heard bad things about Lockheed and Boeing. I want to work somewhere that I can be a part of the design and decision making process. Any suggestions?

  1. Goodrich Aerospace is decent.

  2. Personally I would go with the one that pays most money.

  3. How about Mcdonell Douglass (sp?) or Cessna, or look up some smaller airplane mfg. companies.

  4. All companies have bad parts to them.  The only thing you can hope for is to get as much money as you can get coming into the job.  One answer said M. Douglas, well they are out of business, bought out.  I have worked in both aerospace and outside aerospace and the only nice thing about aerospace is that they pay well.  As for being a part of the design and decision, take your time on that.  The larger the compay the smaller you are in the team.  Again the best thing you can do is get HR to offer you the best job you can qualify for.  The best thing you can do for yourself is get the experience.
