What is the best Anti-Virus and Anti-Spy Ware I can get for free?

I just bought a laptop and I didn't buy the in-store setup for anti-virus. Was it something I should have done or can I get it from like downloads.com?

For ANTI-VIRUS I would definitely recommend Avast.

-Avast is one of the best Anti-Virus softwares there is and has one of the highest virus detection rates of any software, & is definitely better than Avg. Everyone thinks Avg is good just because its popular, though it doesn't have good detection or removal rates compared to Avast. Avast now includes anti-virus, anti-spyware and anti-rootkit components. And the best part is that Avast is Free!

Although Avasts interface looks like a music player, dont judge it by its cover, its really good.

I would suggest you get for the anti-virus, you can get AVG free.

I would suggest Avast Anti-Virus. It is what I use its completely free if you use the home edition. You just have to register it once a year and your all set. Good Luck.
