  3. sounds like aliens have something to do with this, wrap your computer in tinfoil and you'll be good to go.

  4. The best Paid Anti-virus today is Trend Micro Internet Security Pro - Trend Micro has long been an also-ran in the antivirus world, but after spending some time with a recent version of the software I've been impressed with how well it works, its paucity of crashes, and how generally effective it is. Trend offers three vaguely similar versions of its security application; this one ($70) is the most inclusive, and cheaper than the rest. You can also get plain antivirus for just $40.

  5. Honestly the best anti-virus I've ever used was Avast, which happens to be free, I have used just about every expensive program out there but they all have missed things Avast has caught. My second best program was Kaspersky, which was very good until I got some really nasty virus that I had to get Avast for. Also you never have to do a full system scan because avast is constantly scanning any changed/new files so just a simple boot time scan is needed on the 1st reboot after installation and thats it, and getting rid of spyware is just a bonus.

  6. Kaspersky is defiantly the best choice out there at the moment - I mean those Russians know what they are doing! :)

Give Kaspersky Internet Security a whirl. It incorporates a anti-virus, spyware, popup blocker, registry guard, macro guard, anti-spam, firewall - the complete works.

Also checkout the Kaspersky awards page ;)

  7. Update your anti-virus, remember to only have one anti-virus installed on your PC

    http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-...  [Free home edition]

    Download SuperAntiSpyware

    http://www.superantispyware.com/superant...   [Free home edition]

Restart your PC in safe mode, and run a full scan with both.

While in safe mode, you may also want to have a look at your start up items by using msconfig.

Be careful with the items you uncheck, you can have a look here to see if they are necessary

You should also have a look at your IE Add-ons while in safe mode.

    http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using...

Disable any you do not use.

After you reboot back to normal mode, download and install ccleaner to fix any registry problems and clean up old temp files.

Then run a disk clean up
