IT ALL DEPENDS ON WHAT YOU WANT THE BOAT FOR , FISHING , SKIING , GOING FAST , LAKE PATROL , PARTY BOAT LIKE A HOUSE BOAT OR PONTOON BOAT ,OR A SAIL BOAT.   SO YOU HAVE TO ASK A QUESTION LIKE  " WHAT IS THE BEST SKIING BOAT "  FOR EXAMPLE,,  BECAUSE I CAN SAY A 45 FT FORMULA RACE BOAT THAT GOES 100 MPH IS THE BEST  BUT  YOU COULDNT EVEN CATCH  ONE FISH OUT OF THAT THING  SEEING AS HOW  ITS SO LOUD  AND ITS NOT A OPEN PROFILE BOAT .

For cruisers one of the best are Donzi/Sea Ray/Viking

For runabouts - Bayliners

For trawlers - Nordic Tug

Their are so Many Fine Boat,s to be had, the best thing you could do is  sit down with your wife, or Girlfriend and determine what you want in a Boat, We went to EBay Boat,s and just looked at different Shape,s and what they had to offer as far as what we Liked, for us it was a 20 ft Cuddy cabin in which we have spent many weekend just cruising and Lounging, Fishing and Ski,ing.

It depends on what you are looking for, and you will get as  many different opinions as you get answers.  I think the Ericsons are great sailboats, though they haven't made them in years.
