  1. I love my Isis Avent. I think it was only $170 and its wonderful. There were no tubes for the milk to flow through and clean. The pump that clicked on top of the bottle was great too.  Not much to clean.  I had great success with this pump and Im glad this is the one I purchased.

  2. I used a Medela Pump In Style for several months. It worked well and would recommend it.  You can look for good prices on ebay (new or used).

  3. I like the Medela brand pumps they let you use in the hospital. You can also see if you can just rent one from WIC. That's what I did that way I didn't have to worry about having a pump sitting around collecting dust when I was done using it. They give you the kit you need to go with it in the hospital (bottles, tubing etc.)

  4. I use a Medela Pump in Style and it works really, really well.  I was also unable to afford a $300 pump, but when I told the hospital lactation consultant, she said that she would contact my insurance company and have them pay for one.  She fibbed a little and said I had inverted nipples, but the insurance company paid for the pump in full and was delivered to my house two days later.  It is worth it to ask your local lactation consultant to look into it for you.  The pump, although expensive is fabulous. Good luck.

  5. I have heard the Medela is really good as far as electric goes. However, I've also read/heard amazing things about the manual Lansinoh breast pump - I read tons of reviews on products on babiesrus and target.com.  Also, keep in mind that you can rent pumps from the hospital or you could check out craigslist and buy a used one - just make sure you get new tubing to keep it sanitary and make it's clean.

  6. Medela Advanced all the way. It's around 300 dollars, but worth every penny.

Try finding a used one on CraigsList. Just make sure to get new little parts for it. You can order it on the Medela website.
