I am going to China this summer and I am wondering what kind of food is the best one?

PS: Sure I know it depends on people Test but some of them must be more popular than others foods. For example in ITALY Pizza or in TURKEY Kebab... Like that..

Thank you in advance...

  1. try their noodles or their dimsums, that's signature dish for them.

  2. I'm chinese and I think if you go to China the must try foods are:

    Siu mai

    Shrimp wonton

    Siu Pao

Beef with brocolli in Oyster sauce

    Honey roasted Spare ribs

    sweet and sour pork

    steamed fish (preferably Grouper fish)

    The chinese egg tarts

    the peking duck of course

    roasted pork

Chicken feet(it sounds gross but it is very tasty)

the century egg is an acquired taste so i don't think you would like it but I love it.

Also don't forget to try the hand made noodles.the cooks there stretch it with their own hands!

And for drinks, you must try the Cold chrysanthemum tea. It's just great.

  3. Different regions have different culinary traditions (Szechuanese is supposed to be spicy, up north they eat more noodles as opposed to rice, and more meat as opposed to seafood etc.)

It depends on what you like, if you don't know you should lots of different things. More important things to maybe keep in mind are: 1) whether the food is clean, that is, be wary of street vendors, etc. that might make you sick, 2) how authentic the food is, that is, whether you're getting "Chinese Chinese" food or food that's been slightly modified for Western tastes, and 3) whether you're aware of all the options on a given menu (Chinese restaurants, outside of China as well, will sometimes offer things that aren't on the menu like stomach, intestines, etc., because they assume that only Chinese people will eat things like that--but if you want to try them find someone who speaks Chinese to help you!)

But having said all that if you're looking for a single food by which to define all Chinese cuisine by, from the times I've visited there I would nominate the mighty dumpling.

  4. For breakfast is rice soup.  If it looks good eat it.  Try everything.  Go to a 5 star hotel and enjoy yourself.

Are you going to work at the Olympic ?

    Stop by Hong Kong.

  5. For me, is depends upon your taste. Even the food is the best one there, if you haven't like that food, it is not actually the best food for you.

  6. The German Shepard is Delicious!

  7. I prefer Cantonese style Chinese food, the flavor is comforting.

Depending on what area of China you're in, the food will taste different because it's prepared based on the area you're in.

I like Dow Fu Yu (spelling?)  It's Tofu and pork in a brown sauce usually has green onions in it, but I order without, it's served with white rice but I prefer fried rice for more flavor.

You can't go wrong with Sesame Chicken, Sweet & Sour Pork, Orange Chicken, Chow Mein, Lo Mein, Egg Rolls....the list goes on and on.  Only problem I have with Chinese food is I'm always hungry for more after a few hours!

  8. be careful what you eat! what you see may not be what you get.

  9. Try the Peking Roast Duck, it is Beijing's most famous dish --- roast duck served with Mandarin pancakes, green onions and hoisin sauce.  Yummy!
