Me and my dad's friend are having an argument about is Cessna better than QuereJet (Lear Jet). I say Cessna is better because mainly we have the Citation x witch is the fastest civilian Jet still in use. The fastest was the concord but it is no longer in use.

  1. The Citation X is cool, but the Citation reputation is tarnished a little by the SLOWtations (LOL the only jets to get bird strikes from the rear).

The newer base Citations are better, but the Learjets were always fast, flew high, and have better ramp appeal IMHO (the SLOWtations have the bug-eye windows and Cessna 172 wings, while the Citation X's area-ruled fuselage reminds me of a pregnant Beluga Whale).

But Cessna certainly has the sales record, who can argue with that!

  2. DH Beaver on floats or skis

  3. The best civilian aircraft for what purpose? I'd have to say that based on the numbers built, number of hours flown, and safety record, that there are three: the Boeing 737, the Beechcraft King Air, and the Cessna 172. There may be a lot of others that are close, such as the Citation series, but those three are simply hard to beat within their "genre" of aircraft.

  4. Yes, definitely.

  5. Boeing 777

  6. Airbus 340-600 is you consider that civillian

  7. It's the J3 Cub, hands down.  That's what flying's supposed to be like...

  8. I go with the Cessna. definitely!!!!

  9. The Wright Flyer it broke all world flying records On December 17, 1903, :-)

  10. Bell 205. Let's see any of these other 'aircraft' hover in mid-air, or lift two tons vertically on an external hoist.

  11. Depends on the needs as to what civilian aircraft is better then another, but here is a simple list of what I think is best for most situations below.

Training, very short private flying - Cessna 172

commercial jetliner - Citation X, Learjet (not entirely sure on the pros cons on individual jets).

    domestic jetliner - Boeing 737-800

international jetliner (short trips) - Boeing 787

international jetliner (medium trips) - Boeing 747-400

international jetliner (long trips) - Airbus A330-200, A380-800 (for popular long distance flights)

  12. As far as I am concerned, the best civilian aircraft flying is the twin engine Gulfstream G550 jet, the choice of heads of state worldwide and business men needing efficient, reliable, comfortable, and ultra long non-stop capability.

The G550 can cruise at 51,000 feet, which is well above all commercial aircraft traffic. Its dream cockpit includes a HUD (Head Up Display), EVS (enhanced vision system) and a glass cockpit with 4 large LCD displays. The G550 is also known for its "super quiet," luxurious cabin.

The maximum non-stop range is 6,750 NM or 7,760 statute miles at M .80 (long range cruise) with adequate IFR reserves. That's 15 hours in the air before landing! Or you can fly non-stop for 6,000 NM at M .85, or 5,000 NM at M .87. Maximum Operating Mach Number (MMO), is M .885. All of this can be accomplished from a takeoff runway length of 5,900 feet at sea level and at max gross takeoff weight.

This type of luxury and performance does not come cheap. If you ordered a G550 today, you are looking at a delivery date of mid-2012. And the cost would be $47 million. If you can find someone selling their current position for a G550 delivery in 2008, you would pay at least a 20% premium, with a typical G550 running somewhere between $57 and $65 Million. Gulfstream is known for its extremely high quality and excellent, world-wide support.

Gulfstream has an excellent website at http://www.gulfstream.com with several scenarios demonstrating their EVS product, as well as detailed descriptions of other cockpit instrumentation and navigation aids.

  13. How about a gulfstream and are you talking better or faster? Most civilian jets and jet liners will fly to mach and past it..they are just not designed too....Do you consider A320,B737 Cilivian........?

  14. Mc Donnell Douglas DC 3 Dakota. Still being flown at a lot of uncontroled airports accross the world. Best reliability.

    Gulfstream-V or Dassault Falcon 5000 (toss-up)

    Boeing 747-400

Cessna 172 Skyhawk or the 182 Skylane

  15. if u can afford it, go for the A380 lol
