What is the best FREE Anti Virus and Trojen scanner ?

my vista computer has run out of virus protection i was hoping for something like norten or mcafee or even trend micro plz plz some 1 help me coz i am i BIG downloader.

avg free is a good anti virus program and its free

spy bot search and destroy is the best Trojan scanner and is also free

Google both the softwares and you can download them free from their respective home pages

AVG Free 8.0, Zone Alarm, Ad-Aware 2008 and Spy Bot are my favourites.

Well, the short answer is there is no right answer. There is no "best" one out there. They all miss things and this has been shown again, and again. I can tell you that two of my favorites are AVG and Avast... I've used both, but I prefer Avast, due to it's more graphical interface. They are both very good. Any protection is better than no protection. And if you have a broadband connection, chances are you are behind a hardware firewall. If you are not behind one, use a free ssoftwarefirewall. Zone Alarm, Comodo, and Black Ice all come to mind as good free firewalls. Zone Alarm is probably the most flexible one, but I use Comodo, because, again, I like the interface. In short, the only true way to stay virus free is to use common sense. And a good firewall/virus program never hurts!

i'm using AVAST free edition..it gives a h**l of a block to trojans and some known viruses..i combined it with ad-aware(still free ed.)...as to anti-virus, i have AVG free ed. but not the latest edition.. :D they are all present in my comp and so far they form a great defensive team!

PC Tools anti-virus is pretty good, it works much like AVG
