My computer has had a virus for some time now I think. It will pop up frequently to say so. if I used internet explorer it would do it a lot, but if I used mozilla firefox it would not. Now it is constant. It says virus alert in the bottom right hand corner at all times. is there a free download to take care of this. so many that I dont know where to start.

  1. No such thing as a good free anti virus program. *BUY* a copy of Norton Internet Security 2008. Install it and as it installs it will detect and remove the virus. After that it will continue to scan yr machine and detect and remove virus'. Don't be a cheapskate - spend the money and be happy !!

  2. Try Superantispyware (free) and run it in safe mode, which is a built in feature.

  3. You can use AVG free- it is the best free antivirus program available. You can get it here- http://www.grisoft.com/ all you have to do is dowload and run a scan (dont worry if the scan takes a while) and then just get rid of wtvr it finds best of luck! hope i helped!

  4. I'll make it fast and simple. Spybot Search and Destroy, Will take care of everything you could possible need to do. I don't even use my free McAfee that Comcast provides because of Spybot S&D.

Trojans, Spyware, Cookies, Registries, all that are monitored by Spybot, Only you can authorize any changes to your computer, And any suspected threat you are notified of it. Don't trust it? Put a reminder on it and Deny the change,

Its like a personal custom built antivirus and antispyware,

  5. ok dontlisten to the fools that say get AVG8 is c**p,, avast as well. garbage nod 32 is the only decent FREE virues protector. now if u know peeps llike me we can hook u up with PAID antivirus such as kaspersky norton nod32 paid versions.. hit up my email ill hook ya up,, paying it forward,.. btw to all the dummies that post next and before me FREE AVG IS FREE CAUSE ITS WORTH F___  all

i can program just about anything into a picture or music and it certainly wont be deteced by those.lol..a good binding will get past those any day...now do as u wish but i will help ya if ya like.

  6. AVG free i guess but you can try to download a trial version of any paid anti-virus to get your virus removed. the paid ones are better in protecting your system from virus attacks.

  7. You got a rogue infection.  You don't have the virus as stated by the rogue.  It's a fake.  Can you tell us what is the name of the so-called program on the pop up telling you of the fake infections.  Antivirus XP 2008 is one known rogue which uses virus alert.

Or you can see in the  Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Detections List down below in the link, and scroll down to the rogue part and match the one you have from the pop up.

Click on Download.com icon to get Malwarebytes.  Bear in mind that it's FREE.  Please update it first.

simple instructions > download > update > run in quick scan > you may be prompted to reboot.

  8. definitly trendmicro.com has the best malware scan ever, its free and they remove ANYTHING bad for ur computer.

  9. You can't trust a free virus remover because they usually bring in spy ware but if you want a cheap one i suggest Spybot Search and Destroy (i use it) it works really well just google Spybot Search and Destroy and download it. i hope i helped you.
