What is the best HD-DVD or Blu-ray player?

Question

What is the best HD-DVD or Blu-ray player? I don't want to pay alot and I already have an xbox 360. What do you guys suggest keep in mind cost and I want to play more of the good movies no crappy scary movie four type movies.

you should get ps3. its only $399 and it has built-in blu-ray player. the best part is that if you connect ps3 online then you will be able to update the latest version of blu-ray which is v1.1 right now. also blu-ray has more major movie companies that produce their movies on blu-ray. you are probably an gamer since  you have a xbox 360, the ps3 would be perfect for you with all of the awesome games coming out this year

I recommend Toshiba HD-A3 HD-DVD Player..I picked this player up last week and I love it. The start up time is under '20 seconds' and it loads HD DVD's and DVD's even faster. I just bought Toshiba HD-A35 for $350 on Amazon - top of the line Toshiba HD-DVD player.  Excellent!

If you have a 360 you could get the hd dvd player hookup for 150. Its cheaper than hd dvd players. I think blu ray has more space on it but i also dont know if that effects the quality.

The "best" format is all relative to what movies you like more. Honestly, there are great movies that are exclusive to each format, so you're kind of screwed unless you get a dual format player or get both. From experience the 360 add on does the job well as far as playing HD-DVDs but could be better at upscaling DVDs. This also receives updates as needed and when released. Personally I think this would be your best bet...for now. Like the other guy stated, if you are a gamer and believe more is better, the PS3 is one of the best Blu Ray players around. Also, as stated before, the PS3 can receive updates from its WiFi connectivity, no other Blu Ray player currently does this. Always keep in mind though that stand alone players will always be better at doing the single job that they were built for.
