  1. Mmmmm...after reading the answers...I want some ice cream...yummy yum yum. All the places that were mentioned are all good...Bilboquet...Roberto's...

If you don't want to venture out to Outremont for Bilboquet, http://english.montrealplus.ca/bars_rest...

did you know they have a little ice cream stand downtown in Complexe des Jardins http://www.complexedesjardins.com/ang/ho...

It's in the basement level right near the entrance towards Place-des-Arts. It kinda hidden until someone told me about it.

Also if you are in the Old Montreal area...there is a place called Canadian Maple Delights http://mapledelights.com//content/en-US/...

They have some pretty good gelatos...Mmmm...yum! I think it is almost up there with Roberto's.

But there is one place I always go to every year for some good o' home made ice cream and it is called Wild Willy's. There are two locations, which are both in the West Island.

Also they are only open for a certain amount of time...not sure if they are open yet....I must call...to get my Jungle cherry fix! They're usually open near the end of spring and closes near the beginning of fall. Nothing beats good home made ice cream! They even sell Guinness Beer Ice Cream! There's some pretty interesting flavors.

It is a bit far and getting there by car is the best way [public transport will take long] but it worth every l**k when you get there! ;p Then again to each's own taste buds!

[Aside comment to A.R....I remember Swensen's!!! Wow, I haven't heard that name in ages. It was a regular hang out after the movies when I was back in high school. It use to be underneath Sport Experts & Basha....where the eye glasses store is now....Ahhhh sweet memories! We need a nice ice cream parlor back in Montreal!]

  2. Billboquet on Bernard in Outremont.

  3. There is a Ben and Jerry's on de Maisoneuve and Cresent, but the truly best place is Roberto's.  It's a restaurant, but is renown for it's homemade Italian style Ice Cream.  Try to go early, because the line ups (especially on warm night) can be very long

  4. God I used to love that ice cream restaurant on Sainte-Catherine Street West called Swensen's...

    Whatever happened to that place?!?

I guess they must have closed down - d**n it!

Upstairs was a Middle-Eastern restaurant - Turkish or Lebanese or something.

    Good times!

I'd stick with Häagen-Dazs if I were you.

    Yummy!

P.S. Both ice cream companies are American though - not from Quebec per say! Oh well...

EDIT: I'm so glad someone does remember Swensen's! So they did close it down, huh MTLgurl? d**n! Why would they do something like that?!? It's so unfair! Their ice cream was absolutely delicious and I also used to go there with my friends after a movie on Sainte-Catherine Street, especially on a hot summer's night! That ice cream parlor was a perfect location, wasn't it? Ahhhh, sweet memories for me too... What a sad shame that it's all over now!
