Raj Pooth on claypath is the best in Durham.  But catch a train to Newcastle and you have Rasa on the Quayside (Queen Street) which is fantastic, the best in the north-east in our opinion (which includes someone who's spent 2 years out of the last four in India as well as various british born indians) but a bit on the pricier side, or get a taxi from the station to Kumal's in Fenham (should cost about 5-6 quid) for the best and reasonablebaltis, its take your own booze tho.
