i don't know any around central park but i like novella in little italy (on mulberry st.)

The best near Central Park is 'Cesca  164 W 75 and Amsterdam  Excellent food and gracious service. Call for reservations  212 787-6300

But a short taxi ride could take you to Grifone, located at 224 East 46 between Second and Third Ave on the east side of Manhattan. 212 490-7275

One of the only restaurants near Central Park that serves shrimp fra diavolo is Carmine's on Broadway and 90th (about $30).  On the other side of the park, on First and 90th is Francesca's - half pizza place, half restaurant - the food's pretty good and the shrimp fra diavolo is about $10.
