I am in High School in Florida. I like to write and am a writer in a sense, just not famous. I have talent and have won several awards. I also love History a lot and Biology. I've been thinking which Ivy League school is the best in U.S.A. to go to to study these three subjects or at least English and History...do you know? Also, is it good to study abroad instead of studying in U.S.A.? Is Oxford a good school for the things I just listed (History, English)? What are the best universities in England to which I could apply? How different is it to study there than here in U.S.A.? Would you recommend me to study there? If you study there, will you get the same level of education you'll get in U.S.A.? do you study there? if so, is there anything you can tell me about studying in England or abroad, ANYTHING you can tell me, any advice. Is it a good idea?

  1. Oxford is not an Ivy League university.  'Ivy League' is a term that only applies to certain universities in America and as Oxford is not in America it cannot be classed as Ivy League.

It is, however, a very good university (over here we don't call universities 'schools'; schools are something that children go to).  It's ranked second in the world so is essentially better than all bar one university (I believe it's Harvard) in America.  English and history are two particular areas that it's known for as it has an emphasis on 'arts' based subjects, as opposed to Cambridge which focuses on the sciences.

If you're interested in studying over here I'd suggest that you come here for a visit first.  Otherwise you could be committing yourself to a 3 year course in a country you have no experience of.  Studying in this country is really very similar to the US and of course the standard of education is the same as the US.  Why wouldn't it be?!  The US isn't the only first world nation you know!
