    Mission, Mexican Restaurants

    Chava's

    2839 Mission St., San Francisco

This is one of the best Mexican restaurants in the city, delivering on taste, quantity and price. The tacos are very good and the chicken mole hits the spot. This is the kind of place where it pays to be a little adventurous because the meal will probably be tasty. As long as you don't get heartburn, you should be fine.

A lot of locals stop by to eat menudo and drink beer on the weekends, giving Chava's a small town Mexico feel that's becoming more and more difficult to find in San Francisco.

Some people say that Chava's serves greasy, maybe even unhealthy food. It's true. The style is dstinctive of Southern Californian and Northern Mexico, kinda Tex-Mex. But if flavor is what you're after, buen provecho!

  4. Okay, I know this isn't in San Francisco, but you are close enough.  Drive to Redwood City and go to Sanchos on Canyon.  It is totally worth the drive for great Mexican food!

  5. errrrr... taco bell
