i'm a student that is in need of small laptop (netbook) for quick notes, and i have 6 class periods, so i'm only looking to charge it for one or two of the periods (most likely one). it needs to be small, light-weight, and very portable. i had my eye on the acer aspire one, which is looking good with the linux version. i also had an eye on the msi wind, but im only looking to spend $400(possible $450). plz help me! thanks!

    has a 95% Full-size Keyboard

    Touchpad

    0.3 Megapixel Webcam

    Power Linux: 3-cell (~3 Hours) & Windows: 3-cell (~2.5 Hours) or Linux: 6-cell (~7 Hours) & Windows: 6-cell (~5.5 Hours)

  4. The Asus EEE Pc is the best. Acer is of good quality. This notebook comes in Black or White. It can have a 6-20GB hard drive. This also has built in internet and comes with windows or linux. These notebooks battery life are great and have a built in webcam (i think). The 20GB cost more but might just be worth it.

  5. The Acer Aspire One netbook is a really good choice, and of those readily available right now, the one I'd go with (and did go with -- I also have an Eee). If you're looking to use it primarily as a student (taking notes, writing papers, etc.) then you're not going to need the storage of some of the other netbooks out there and the 8gb linux model should be fine.

Another plus the One has for it is the proper keyboard. As a student, you'll be doing a lot of typing, whether it's notes or papers, and having a normal keyboard (or as normal as they can be on a netbook) is crucial. While some of the Eees have similar setups, you'll notice that the majority of the other netbooks out there have misshapen shift keys, odd arrow placements, and other such things. The One isn't ideal, but it's about as close as you can get right now.

Also, though the battery only lasts for about 3 hours, Acer is set to release a model with a larger battery that should be good for considerably more time -- probably enough for 4 or 5 classes without recharging. That'll cost a little more, of course, but thankfully Acer has lowered the price so that the model with the larger battery should still fit your requirements.
