  1. Yamaha and Selmer are both great brands.  Their student models through their pro models are awesome, with just a couple "oops" moments from each company in the past.  lol

Generally their intermediate and pro horns are top notch, and their craftmanship and quality of materials are great.  They are both fairly competetive in pricing, though Selmer tends to run just a little bit higher.

The most well known pro models are The Mark VI or Super Action 80 Series, both from Selmer.  However, there are many vintage horns that perform just as well, and a ZILLION models from Yamaha that are comparable.

Yanagisawa is another brand to check out, although you should know that they are an off-chute of Yamaha.

The other brand that I am completely taken with is Cannonball.  They are a relatively new company that operates out of Utah, and their horns are BEAUTIFUL- in tone, quality, innovation, materials, and crafmanship.  What I really dig about them is that their quality compares with Selmer and Yamaha... for half the cost!

Hope I helped narrow down your search a bit.  When you get closer to purchasing a horn, you might want to choose three and then post again about the specifics of each.

    Good Luck! :)

EDIT: From the looks of all your posts it seems as if you have a ton of questions- feel free to email me if you'd like!
