  1. Nissan Terrano II 2.7 or 3.0TDi - beats the c**p out of any other full sized, 7 seat 4x4 for economy & towing.

  2. Depends on the weight of the caravan. If its under 1400kgs then i find a passat diesel one of the best or an Audi A6.Anything heavier then go for a Mitsubishi Shogun however the diesel consumption is high.Whatever you choose make sure it is more than the 85% rule for towing.

  3. V.W camper!!

  4. Have a look at the BBC Top Gear clip about towing a caravan as to the reasons certain cars are chosen, then think seriously about sticking a wobbly box on the back of your car.  Any large, long wheelbase 4x4 - the heavier the better would do  the trick. (but don't go for anything American, as they wouldn't pull the skin of a rice pudding) Saying that, I recently witnessed a tandem (twin) axle van being towed by a Vauxhall Frontera under going a "tank - slapper" (at under 60 mph) on the M5 near Bridgwater, luckily the van was brought under control, with nothing more than "brown trousers". I spoke to the driver just afterwards and he reckoned that his car was among the best for the job, but the tandem layout seems to be prone to "tank - slappers".

  5. The Ford Mondeo Estate 2.0TDCi Titanium Has Just been voted best towcar by the Camping and Caravan Club.

Check the club website for the runners up.

  6. FORD TRANNY IN VAN

    FORD MONDEO IN CAR

  7. Discovery.
