  1. The UK is England, Scotland, Wales & Northern Ireland altogether,

    I only know England,

    London,

    York,

    Bath,

    Canterbury,

    Strafford upon Avon,

    Leeds,

    Liverpool,

    Manchester,

    Birmingham,

    Newcastle,

    Oxford,

    Chester,

    Cambridge,

    Lancaster,

    Norwich,

    Durham,

    Bristol,

  2. i love london it ticks off all those things you said. except the crime rate thing its a little bit more then low. but everyone i know and me have never had a bad experience so hey..

  3. try some of the ancient cathedral cities that aren't too big ... such as Canterbury, Chester, Durham, Lancaster, Colchester, Norwich ... they've got a thousand and more years of history, they're beautiful, small enough that you get a friendlier way of life, they have shopping centres with all the usual high street shops and some quirky ones as well, and the crime rates are usually much lower than the bigger more well known cities

  4. Cities: Bath, Oxford, York, Edinburgh, Dublin,

    Towns: Chester, Stratford, Marlborough,

  5. Small town called Lymington on the south coast

    it has it all

  6. no mean city the only place to live (glasgow)

  7. haddington

  8. Bath/Bristol, York, Edinburgh are all good.

London  gets pretty much 0 points for nature (it takes hours to get out to anything natural), people and crime (it is oneof the crime capitals of the world).

  9. Not London, Manchester or Liverpool in my opinion.

    I think Newcastle best fits;

    - 2 large shopping centres

    - 2 universities in Newcastle city centre

    - relativley low crime

    - lots of history; railways, coal mines, Hadrain's Wall

    - Geordies are known to be friendly people :)

  10. Liverpool. European Capital of Culture 2008.

Home of the Beatles, only city in England with 2 Cathedrals.

    800 years of History.

New Shopping Precinct opened this year.

  11. all of them except london - and liverpool is not the only city with 2 cathedrals, its scouse urban legend.

  12. THE BEST, Liverpool. European Capital of Culture. loads going on at the moment. not going to spout me mouth off. just come and see for yourself.  And the people are dead friendly.. moved here 15 years ago from London and i love it..

  13. hmmm cambridge is a really amazing, low crime, all the uk shops but in a quieter place

theres alot of history, theres adifferent cultures cause of the uni, plenty of jobs, nice river runing through the town and parks

    people are all polite

oxford has similar reputation too but i havn't been there

    also

    York

    Chester

    Oxford

    avoid

    Manchester

    nottingham

    london

    sheffield

    liverpool

    (all high crime)

they are all great for shopping and have culture etc there its just wether you want to compromise safety
