What is the best/affordable way to travel to calgary from toronto?

The train actually doesn't go into Calgary, you would have to bus to Edmonton and train from there.   This route is very expensive on VIA and it takes about three days.   You are best to fly.

Ify ou want to slit it up you can bus to winnipeg which is only about 12-18 hours then fly either PORTER air or another discount carrier to Toronto.

The Bus does take anywhere from 4-5 days.   Two of those spent getting across Ontario.  If you are not a good traveller I would not recommend it, 70+ hours in a greyhound seat can get to be too much.

The most affordable way to get there is to hitch a ride with a trucker there .There is semis going there with load daily and it would probably only cost you meals.It is a unique way to travel.

bus is cheapest but least noble way of travel.  Its about 4 days on the bus nite and day... sloshing across the praires with a full load in the bus lavratory aint no fun.. done it.. but its cheapest.

Driving is very cool, about 48 hours of drive time but with gas prices it would be more expensive then bus or flying but allows you to see the country!   $400 -$500 in gas

Flying is about a 4 hour flight. two choices; $about $450-$600 return with 2 wks advance booking

However you get to calgary... make sure you make the effort of a couple more hours to get to see the Rockies  (which you can from Calgary on a clear day) but being in them is a much better expoerience..  suggest Banff townsite if you only have one visit there

The best way is to fly,you can take the train or bus but the cost is more ,because it will take days instead of hours
