  1. The Doors epic and haunting masterpiece "The End" closes out their landmark debut album... I believe this to be the best closing song..

A close second is the Pink Floyd song "Eclipse" that ends the legendary Dark Side of the Moon.

  2. It's a toss up between " A Day in the Life ", by John Lennon that ended the Sgt. Pepper album and " Her Majesty " by Paul McCartney that ended the Abbey Road album.

  3. Pink Floyd's Meddle album. the song... ECHOES

  4. Awesome question...  tough one too, I really had to think about this one.  However I think the best closing song of all time is:

"When the Levee Breaks" from 'Led Zeppelin IV'

  5. diary of a madman - ozzy osborne.  seems like a sad ending to an awesome album.  sounds melancholic.

  6. The Beatles got it right w/ "A Day in the Life" on Sgt. Pepper's.

  7. Shine On You Crazy Diamond was the perfect song to bookend the Wish You Were Here Album. It opens up the way it closes, beautifully.

Also, in a close second is Eclipse and Outside the Wall (I love the continuity in this one.)

  8. Hella - "Better Get a Broom!", the last song off the album "Hold Your Horse Is".

A wonderfully executed experimentation of the raw, beautiful, and headache inducing noise. Keeps you on your toes with a long drawn out dissonant and arhythmic bridge then opens up into a broad pleading theme pulling your heart of of your chest then ends the song by throwing it on the floor and stomping on it with guitar and drums. It's amazing.

Hella - "Biblical Violence" (not the same song but you get the same idea)
