  1. Best is when standard petroleum or diesel vehicles are supplemented with water injection (best as a fine mist) or well designed HHO (hydrogen/oxygen, or 'Brown's gas' units).  You will find people here who attack use of hydrogen, but that's just sad.  To be sure, hydrogen-only vehicles are very tricky to get right and the engine needs a lot of modification.  A very balanced and well researched site to look at is eagle-research.com  Also look at the aquatune.com website - they appear to have found the simplest way to use the hydrogen in water at the very last possible moment in the intake to combustion process.  Research and decide for yourself - with the likes of certain types around these parts, we'd still be using horse and cart.  No offense intended if you're Amish :)

  2. Hybrid vehicles which use hydrogen

  3. Use ur neighbor`s car or bike

  4. Electric Cars. period!

  5. saving petrolium is the only way to solve this problem

  6. Solar-powered cars would have an unlimited supply of fuel at their disposal. Either that or the new hydrogen cars that produce only water as a byproduct.

  7. For ages petroleum and its various forms have been used for a number of activities because of itd 3 unique properties of concentrated, versatile and portable. But now there is a pressing need to find an alternative for petroleum because it is non-renewable and emits greenhouse gases which are main components that cause global warming.

    The alternatives are:

Natural Gas, Hydrogen, electricity, nuclear energy, non conventional oil, organic fuels and renewable energy from wind, solar, geothermal and tidal sources.

At present about 80% of world's demand for transportation fuel are met by the derivatives from the fossil fuel: Petroleum.

Alternatives to Petroleum can be categorized into Fossil Fuels and Non-fossil Fuels.

Under Fossil Fuels we have:1) Diesel  2) LPG(Liquid Petroleum Gas)  3)CNG (Compressed Natural Gas)  4) Ethers- butane, Methyl Tertiary Butyl Ether (MTBE)  5) Electricity from coal, oil, gas  6) Methanol produced from natural gas or coal.

Non -Fossil alternative Fuels are: 1) Ethanol  2) Hydrogen

  8. Use a bicycle. Stay healthy, save a ton of money on fuel and save the planet. No better deal than this!!!

  9. The very Best is petroleum.. Nature recycles the CO2 with plants and also recycles our fossil fuels too.

  10. Okay, here's the deal...

If anyone answers these questions with anything good to say about hydrogen, ignore them.  It's a terrible fuel, and all research on it needs to stop now.  If you actually want to know the details, email me and I'll discuss it in more depth.

Solar cars are not exactly a great option either.  Unless your discussing using it to trickle charge and top off your hybrid battery pack.  Again, I can discuss this further should you care to know.

Electric vehicles do show some promise.  The battery technology needs to advance a powerful long way before it will ever become a viable solution though.  Lithium-Ion batteries are amazing, but compared to liquid or gaseous fuels, they aren't even remotely close.  That being said, I do own one (electric car that is).  And like almost every electric car ever made, it doesn't work anymore and is in storage.

Now, if we want to discuss a viable option for the here and now, let's look at methane.  Sure, it doesn't have quite the energy density of gasoline (about one quarter) but it is plentiful.  We have stupidly massive amounts of this gas already available, and the infrastructure to distribute it.  Good old fashioned natural gas.  But wait, are there stations that sell it already?  Yes there are.  And cars that run on it?  Yes.

Look up the Honda Civic GX.  The future is available now... so let's start taking advantage of it.

  11. electric cars with technology that is going to appear in the foreseeable future.

  12. I thing d best alternative for petrolium is "Corn". Because from the Corn, we can produced "Ethenol Gas". Ethenol is less costly than petrolium. Now a days, U.S.A Govt. doing this process.

  13. Jatropa oil

  14. Electricity vehicles or we have invent some alternate petrol using chemicals or bio

  15. If my father buy a scooty for me I should demand yo bike which is powered by electricity and one thing more we should conserve fuels like petrol , diesel by not using vehicles for near places.

  16. Well my friend, the best alternative for petroleum, would be when this government finishes or is over.

  17. For electrical plants, solar thermal is already as cheap as a coal-fired plant and doesn't require fossil fuels, except in the initial construction phase.

For cars, it may be a multi-step process. Initially, ethanol using either algae or switchgrass to produce the fuel, or something as efficient, either one results in much less CO2 and air pollution, though a Stanford study showed that ozone pollution is greater with ethanol. So we'd want to move on, to either electric cars (in most cases hybrids) and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. If you can produce the hydrogen your fuel cell needs on the go, you don't need to worry about finding a hydrogen fueling station, just refill your water tank and make sure your batteries are charged.

Nuclear is still an option but it requires large subsidies and presents the problem of highly toxic waste and a certain degree of risk in case of a breakdown. You can rely on power from a nuclear plant 24/7, unlike solar and wind so I assume we'll require these for the foreseeable future if we stop using fossil fuels to produce electricity.
