Does anyone have any advice for converting a VHS tape to DVD-R? I don't have a VCR, but I do have a PC w/a fairly sophisticated CD/DVD-R burner. I just don't know where to go from here. Just trying to save money while backing up my old VHS tapes to DVD.

  1. You would need to get a VCR and an analog capture card. Also, think about the ratio of money (not) spent to time it is going to take you. It may be worth it to check out a video services company depending on how many tapes you want converted.

  2. Hi VRizzto,

You need a VCR to play your tapes so you can copy them.

Go to a couple yard sales. I bought a working VCR at a yard sale a few weeks ago for $10.00.
