I want to buy a frog habitat. I see Planet Frog has one that looks good for him to view. I have several pet stores in the area, and want what is best for him.

  1. lorimartow, frogs arent a reptile they are an amphibian. are all your answers this bad?

  2. I wouldn't recoment getting a 4 yr old a frog...Now if he will not be handeling it that is another story. I would get andthing but a toad.

  3. i wouldnt think any reptile would be good for a 4 year old to own...

  4. Those little planet frog habitat things are a death trap for frogs.  They can't keep heat or humidity (which are really important to their survival)  It would be much more effective to get a 10 gallon tank and all the supplies needed for their care.  Also frogs do not do well with handeling.  If you want to get a frog because they would be fun to watch, they aren't really active, most are nocturnal and you won't see them moving around much during the day.

    I would reccomend getting a small lizard like a green anole that would stay in the tank and not be handled.  They are fun and have spunky personalities.

  5. Well, I have 2 sugestions for you. the first is an afrcan dwarf frog, you could get 2 or 3 in a 1 gallon aquarium with a lid and a sponge filter. They get about 2 inches long. They are humorouse to watch and they are fully aquatic. Also, you do not have to feed them live bugs like you have to do with all other frogs. They eat bloodworms, brineshrim and other frozen foods that you can buy at a pet store and thaw out to feed to them. Make sure the takn has a cover tho, or else the frogs might hop out and dry up on the floor.=( Here is a good care sheet on them- http://allaboutfrogs.org/info/mypets/dwa...

    I have 2 and they are so much fun to watch!

    My second choice for the kid is a firebelly toad. You have to set them up in a half anf half tank. Here is how you care for them and how to set up a good tank for them- http://allaboutfrogs.org/info/mypets/fir...

    Neither of them can be handled tho=( No frog can.

    Good luck!=)
