Because I play water polo, and my coach has garanteed me a spot next year on varsity, because the JV goalie stinks, and so I am really wanting to become faster cuz I am slow(i'm goalie in case you didn't know) and I was wondering if there are any swimmers or water polo players or some one who can help me. Also, I am goign to try and start swimming over the weekends if I acn at my moms pool, anything else I can do?

  1. use speedo products. I do not own the company, I am also a costumer.

  2. The best way to pick up speed is to join a racing club or sign on with a coach for some personal lessons. You really aren't aware of what you are doing in the water -- and you aren't always doing what you think you are. Sounds strange, but it's true. A good coach will be able to correct whatever you are doing that is slowing you down, and point out the things you should be doing to speed you up.

As you already have a good basis, and know how to use coaching, you should be able to achieve this.

Yes, training over the weekend at your mom's pool, or any other pool, will help, as a coach can only tell you what to do.You have to incorporate it into your swimming, and that means practise.

As far as Speedo products go -- they are not really any better or any worse than any other products. Stay with what is comfortable and doesn't restrict your movements.

  3. That is great that you want to get faster! I play water polo too, and I sprint and play 2 meters. If I were you to get into shape by yourself, I would go to a lap swimming pool (I know you said that your mom has a pool, but make sure its about 25 yards long) and just to sets like four 100yds, four 75yds, four 50yds, and four 25yds. Also, work on your leg strenght, so egg beatering (treading water), since your a goalie. If you want you could also get a swim coach or join a swim team, but what I said before is probably the most accurate way to become a faster swimmer. Good Luck!

  4. The only way to really become a faster swimmer is to join a swim team and train 5 to 6 days a week with a coach who knows what she's doing. Stroke mechanics and just plain hard work are the components that will make you faster. Also, cross training will help some: running, cycling, weight lifting can increase your endurance.

  5. join a good swim team that's serious about training and winning, i'm not the fastest swimmer in the world but i am one of the fastest on my water polo team. swimming comes in handy for water polo just be prepared to be crizited about your stroke because of all the head up swimming their is in water polo. just train as you would be competing in a swim meet and you'll get so much faster.
