Question:

What is the best angle to have my snowboard bindings set to?

I noticed that snowboard bindings have that adjustment behind the heel that lets you adjust the bindings for your calf or ankle angle and the board.

I am a beginner and I was wondering how should I set it, should I be straight like an L? or more at an angle like /_?

What is the purpose for this feature?

Thank you,

  1. I ride with my high backs straight up and down. It all depends. If you want to turn heelside with less effort then you can set your forward lean up a little bit. It just all depends on how you feel comfortable riding.

  2. the adjustable high back lets you put forward lean on your bindings so that when you lean back it is more responsive.  it has to do with what you perfer, if you want a quick edgyness to your board then set them with more of a lean, if you want it to me less tight and responsive then leave them strait up and down,  I would put a tiny bit of forward lean on them, not alot, just enough so that when you lean back you can feel them pushing on the back of your boot.  it will give you a more sucure feeling on the board.  good luck and have a good season.  have fun falling

  3. Leave it at no lean.  It creates the least forward lean, and is probably the best for a beginner.  For more aggressive riding, forward lean helps by initiating turns with a lot less effort, but it's a pain in the park.  If you're just starting, I'd recommend not using any lean at all.  Once you get better, I'd recommend exploring a little.

And by the way, your bindings will never look like a L.  All bindings have some degree of lean built into it.  In fact, look at your boot.  It's not like a perfect L right?

  4. ince you're just a beginner, set them at about 10 degrees on your front foot and negative 8 to 10 degrees on your back foot. DONT set them too close together. That is a mistake a lot of beginners make.
