I was thinking something like petroleum jelly..... im not sure though.

  2. The best applicant for open wounds is any water based antiseptic like Povidine Iodine, that should be used to clean the wound. Never use any oil based applicant on open wounds.   They form a thin layer over the wound under which the micro organisms can grow.

    Do not use the petroleum jelly.
