What is the best approach at cleaning a non stick grill?

Our non stick grill has got some charred stuff stuck to it. Any tried and true ways to clean or any suggestions besides soaking?

If you can use oven cleaner on it, (enamel surface, right?) try this method. (This is how I clean baked on crude off my oven racks):

1. Remove grill rack from the grill.

2. Spray oven cleaner on the rack.

3. Slip the rack into a large black trash bag.

4. Seal up the bag and allow it to sit for about an hour.

5. Remove grill rack from bag and hose off.
