I have been really overloaded recently and wanted a pay raise to justify for the workload. What is the best way to ask my boss for a pay raise without having to strain the employee and employer relationship in a event i do not get it?

On one hand, due to the overload of work load, I was not able to perform as efficiently and on the other, with the overload, I was falling sicked. How to request a reduced workload with out my boss feeling that i am being lazy.

Please advise.

  1. this is tough, man.  how do u feel and think what the boss thinks of u??  thats important.  will he jump. hv u seen him/her jump on other issues/ staff ?  is he amenable.

the best bet is to ask for payrise.  do some homework. your job description.  r u doing minor lower level or higher level job?  quantify it.  dont type - handwrite  a list but dont show him the list.  memorise it.  approach him with that piece of paper crumpled in your hand.  and see what comes of it.

the other approach is if u dont need the $$ then ask for a helper to be attached to u instead.
