I just started a new job and I plan on saving money to buy a car... Obviously I won't be able to afford a brand new car, but I want something that will get me from point A to point B...

How much should I save up before trying to buy a car? Also if a credit check is done and I have no credit, will I be able to get a car through a dealership?

  1. I've never bought a new car because they loose 20-30% of their value the minute you drive them off the lot. I've always done the following when I look to purchase a used car: First, how much do you want to pay for a car regardless of the make or model. Then do your research, find out what make of car(s) you want. Then begin looking at websites, newspapers, etc for that make, you will find several quickly. Then I test drive the cars I'm interested in along with having some trusted mechanic look over the car. Finally, I find out what warranties, if any, will transfer to me if I buy the car.

One way I have purchased my last 2 cars is through car auction sites. Great prices and the cars are in great shape. The site referenced below has more information on ways to get details about these cars and locating the auction sites.

    Good luck!

  2. Your best bet is to save and buy a used car from a private person. Some dealerships will finance with no/bad credit but you will pay way more than the car is worth. Find a car type you like and research what it is worth. Save up and start looking for that type of vehicle.

  3. Since you don't have credit you should save up your money while building up your credit score. Then you'll have the option of paying in full or getting it financed. You'll save more money by paying in full though. If you just want something to get you around town, you can get a decent car at a car auction for $2,500 or less.

  4. Im a private person selling a car and thats your best bet to getting a car without the credit check. If your interested in a chevy malibu 2000 for $5000 let me know.
