I'm unfortunately going to stay in the 15th (Vaugirard) when I should actually be booking the 1er arrondissement (Les Halles)

I'm very much disappointed in myself EVEN THOUGH there's a metro 100 meters away from my hotel. I still need to walk around without using the metro :S

a) What is the best arrondissement in Paris for a family of 6 who wishes to go to Disneyland, monuments such as Louvre and Eiffel Tower and visit some branded stores (Chanel, Louis Vuitton etc)

b) Is the 15th nice? If so, what is it compared to the 1st arrondissement?

  1. No problem, you might have a better trip with a family in the 15th anyway!

Both rue de Vaugirard and rue de Convention are full of little stores, cafés, boulangeries, etc, and they're charming for short walks close to home.  There's also parc Andre Citroen and parc Georges Brassens quite close by (I'm sure you checked out the map).

Keep in mind that Paris is a relatively small city, and extremely well serviced by the metro.  You're in a good position to get anywhere!  The Novotel is right on the metro Line 12, which goes to one end of the Champs-Elysees (shopping!) and close to Line 6, which goes to the Eiffel Tower (Trocadero station), the Arc de Triomphe (CDG-Etoile).

To get to Disneyland, you'd take Line 6 to the other endpoint (Nation) and switch to RER A -- they can help you buy your ticket (including the Disney ticket) in the metro.

It's a safe, relatively quiet area that is more authentic than the touristy first arrondissement (and Les Halles is kind of iffy at night anyway), so you may have lucked into a better experience anyway!  Good luck.

  2. Aren't you getting tired of spamming the site asking the same questions over and over again under two different identities (which is against the Yahoo Q/A rules by the way)?
