  1. I Also like fiber when HDMI is not availible

  2. I like coaxial over fiber optic.

Fiber optic can loss it's signal strength when it bends, and as this can damage the information,... You can see why I like coaxial over it.

Coaxial signal is a low voltage data signal and can be sent over great lengths with little to no degradation ( signal loss).

Will I hope I helped you evaluate your satiation. With the right information… anyone can make the right decision.

  3. If you want the 5.1 you can use either the COAX digital or the Optical digital.

It makes no difference in sound quality.

    I use whatever is available.

I typically prefer to use coax only because coax is a more robust cable. Otherwise it really makes no difference.

  4. Fiber optic cables are too delicate. When they bend the fibers inside can become damaged and you may experience signal loss. Coaxial digital is much sturdier. There are instances where fiber is better, but this isn't one of them.

Bend radius is a serious concern with fiber. On a home entertainment system, with the mass of wires hanging off the back, it's easy to accidentally bend the fiber cable too far.
