My older kids, ages 7 and 5, are very interested in all things airplanes, esp military. We've taken them to all the aviation museums in DC, Virginia and Maryland (some of them more than once.) We're are very lucky to live so close to so many resources, but they would like to try something new. I know the big one in Ohio is great and we will eventually get there, but we're just looking for more choices. We'll be heading out west next year so hopefully we can find something out there. But I would love to hear about experiences at any museum in the US>

Thanks!!

  1. You might consider the Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum in McMinnville, Oregon.  It is located about 35 miles from Portland in the heart of Oregons  wine country.  The home of the Spruce Goose, it has the oldest, the fastest, and the biggest on display.  There is also a separate space museum and an Imax theater.  This museum is often referred to as the Smithsonian of the West.  They like kids.

  2. Try the The American Helicopter Museum & Education Center.
