  1. The moby wrap.

  2. I just found this one, and think it is amazing... but I have back issues, so the other ones aren't good for me

  3. Generally that depends on what your needs are and what you prefer.  Wraps are amazing because they offer tons of support.  This is great for heavier babies and toddlers or if you are going to be wearing your baby for long periods of time or have back problems.  They are more difficult to manage when you're putting them on and the ends tend to drag the ground.  They aren't something that you can easily throw on in a second, but they're really a great option.

Ring slings are really good for smaller babies, back carries for older babies, and for short periods of baby wearing for in between babies.  They're really easy to slip on and off and are adjustable like wraps so that mom, dad, grandma, or whoever can wear them.

Pouch slings are also really good and have a lot of the same benefits as ring slings.  They're even smaller so they're super easy to put in a diaper bag, but they are tailored to fit just mom's body.

Mei Tais are an in between carrier with a lot of the benefits of wraps and slings.  They offer an evenly distributed support but don't have 5 yards of draping fabric.  They don't have as many carry positions, though.

  4. I love my maya wrap - very comfortable and doesn't hurt my back (I have a bad back).  I have heard great things about the moby wrap but it is harder to put on than the maya.

  5. Depends what you want

If you want versatility and choice in positions, and a sling that will last you a long long time, the nchoose a simple sling, just a long piece of beautiful material that you can tie wherever

If you want convenience and ease of use then choose a babasling, just clips into place and is suitable for 0 - 2 years

  6. everybody has different preferences. i have made 2 ring slings for myself once i have the baby, my friends love theirs and it seems very versatile and durable since it will grow with the baby. i personally don't like the idea of the backpack style ones. my husband got one for him to use with the baby but it just doesn't seem like my thing.  i will try the moby as well but i have heard complaints about how long the fabric is and that it isn't convenient to put on in public. the best thing to do is put it on before you leave the house and when you get to your destination put the baby in it.

  7. I like the soft Mei-Tai carriers the best. I also have a wrap and a ring-sling, but the Mei-Tai is the easiest to use and by far the most comfortable.

I have a couple of Mei-Tais, my firm favourite being the Snugbaby http://www.fill-your-pants.com/product/6... Its always the one I reach for! I still carry my 15 month old everywhere in it, is just distributes the weight so well!

Id probably say I preferred the wrap when my daughter was very young, as they cocoon them so well- you could just make one of those yourself though, its just a long stretch of fabric, not really worth spending a fortune on one!!

  8. Personally, I LOVE the moby-style wrap (www.mobywrap.com) but I'm pretty creative and I made my own for only $3!!  Basically its just a large piece of fabric (5 yards or so) that you have to tie around your body (the website has instructions) and viola!  Instant baby carrier!!

    PROS:

This is the most com-uh-fort-able sling I have ever tried.

It distributes the weight evenly across both shoulders and your back.

It can be used for many different positions, be it for nursing, front facing or whatever!

It can be used from infant all the way up to toddler!

Like I said I made my own for only $3!!  I just got 6 yards (I actually only needed 5 but oh well,) of a good t-shirt type fabric (on the clearance rack none the less!) and simply cut it in half lenght wise.  I didn't even hem it or anything since I used pinking shears! The whole 6 yards only cost me $6 and I'm only using half of it so, three bucks!!

    CONS:

It does take some time to get used to tying the thing, but it really isn't that hard.

You have to use so much fabric that if you are tying it outside or something it might get dirty as its hard to keep off the ground. To fix this I just put it on before I leave the sling on and pop the baby in and out.  I might look a little weird, but who cares!  Johnny loves it!
