What is the best bait to use when fishing at Cayucos pier?

I'm fishing for shark.

fishing from a pier for shark, I would have to say cut bait or lures.  Either use frozen squid - usually you can get a few in a block - use a whole one - usually they're small.  Or bring another pole and catch some smaller non-gamefish and use them for bait - cut em with a knife so they bleed a little but don't kill them.

Best bait for anything is anything that occurs naturally in the area where you are fishing...
