  1. Mt Maunganui is great, as you have the choice of ocean beach or the harbourside within minutes of each other.  Then the township offers lots of awesome cafes and eateries, and the wafflecones are great, AND you also have the Hot Pools to enjoy at the end of the day. The walk around the Mount itself is awesome. Think you should go there and see for yourself:-))

  2. I have been all round both Islands, and believe me,The best beach for you is at Karamea,Not many people if any,White sand, watching the waves roll in,peace and quiet.I have camped out there many times.Highly recommended.

  3. I love Okains Bay in Banks Peninsula coz you can camp there and see hectors dolphins. Its only 1 and a half hours from ChCh and I camp there every year.

  4. awesome white sandy beaches, warm clear blue water, northland, coromandel and east coast of north island

  5. any beach on the karikari peninsula, in the far north or any on the east cape of new zealand, wainui beach in Gisborne is up there too....depends where you live really.

  6. depends wat part of nz u r in

  7. Mount Maunganui in the Bay of Plenty...and Ohope Beach...both beutiful beaches, although Waihi Beach in the Coromandel comes close as well!

  8. North Island - Tauranga Bay or go up to the Kari Kari Peninsula

  9. Definately Kawhia.   The ocean beach has great surf, and you can dig your own hot spring.   It is also quite likely the beach is your own.   The harbour is great for all water sport and on the opposite side to the town ship is like a totally different world, white sandy beaches, and again, privacy and warm clear water, been here all my life, was at the beach just yesterday, its great.

  10. Mt Maunganui

  11. That's like asking, what colour is the ocean!!  Blue, green, grey etc.  The colour depends on the weather.  We have so many beaches that can cater to so many different life styles.  It will depend on which part of New Zealand you are thinking of being in.  i.e. North or South Island and where in that particular island.  From that information we can scale down a bit. Also, what it is you actually want to do.  i.e. surf, blog out, play beach volley ball, watch the talent, be surrounded by people and things happening, be totally on your own  . . . . . . etc, etc, etc

  12. NZ has so many lovely beaches.  Here are just a few of my top faves:

#1 - Hot Water Beach, Coromandel Peninsula

As the tide is going out or coming in, you can dig a hole in the sand and enjoy the thermal springs.  Really novel!  This is also a surf beach so you can do surfing, boogyboarding or body surfing there too.

#2 - Kaiteriteri & any beach in Abel Tasman National Park

This is such a gorgeous part of NZ.  Definitely grab a sea kayak and go to one of the remote beaches and enjoy the sun and sand there.

#3 - Pakiri and Goat Island, North of Warkworth

Being on the Leigh Marine Reserve you can enjoy snorkelling and looking at the fish there as well as chilling out on the beach.

#4 - Any beach on Waiheke Island, Auckland

Travel by ferry to Waiheke Island and relax on one of the many beaches there.  If you get bored, then do a winery tour there.

#5 - Peachgrove Bay, Great Mercury Island

Prestine white sand that squeaks as you walk.  Only way there is by pleasure craft so reliant on you getting access to this to get there.

  13. I rekon Mangawhai for surfing and fishing and then if you get sick of that you can go around the corner and go to Te Arai Lakes and swim in the fresh water, or go water skiing, or just have a nice swim.....

  14. Omaha beach 100 % the best in nz only one hour north of Auckland

  15. Teeli knows what they are talking about, those beaches are all great beaches.

  16. Pakiri Beach which is just past Goat Island on the North Island is a stunning swimming beach with white sands.

  17. Piha

  18. This is a dumb question. There are lots beautiful beaches in Aotearoa.   Gisborne and the East Cape are my personal favourites.

  19. Bowentown Waihi

  20. oh my are they the thingeys with water and waves if so the winna is Oakura  in taranaki

  21. Pauanui

  22. I would have to say Sumner Beach in Christchurch beacuse it is really beautiful and its not like heaps of other beaches where there are thousands of people and you have absolutely no privacy what so ever. I also know that there is a nice beach somewhere in Napier/Hastings ( not sure which).

  23. Kaiterteri and Marahau gateway to the Abel Tasman National park - All the beaches are great there.

    Top of the South Island.

  24. Driftwood Bay on Slipper Island, off the coast of Tairua.

No other people, sandy beach, view of the wide open South Pacific.

  25. Pukehina

  26. If you cruise around the Coromandel peninsula you'll have a whole lot of good beaches to choose from. Whangamata, Pauanui, Tairua, Sailors grave, hot water beach, waikawau, just to name a few. Cathedral cove is nice, if you don't mind a bit of a walk. The beaches are small compared to somewhere like whangamata, and you can't really surf there, but it's unique being surrounded by amazing rock formations and a big tunnel connecting the two beaches.

  27. Well the best beach for surfing  swimming  diving

and star gazing  is  taupo bay  up north

  28. Tairua

  29. I believe Mt Maunganui is the best beach

  30. The 90 mile beach!

  31. well if you are in christchurch you can head over to lyttleton and thats a habour and then you go to the first bay and thats called corsiar bay and thers blue water if it a nice day the ground is all sea shells so bring your shoes and you can also walk through all the bays
