  1. i say get the lg blueray and hd so you can play both

and also use a hdmi cable

  2. SONY BABY

  3. they're all about the same but if you also want a game console, get the PS3. It's all basically the same exact thing, your hdtv is what matters the most.

  4. Since you did not specify any specific criteria your Blu-ray player needs to have, I would say the best "all-around" player is the PS3.  Picture and audio quality are subjective                             and are therefore in the eyes and ears of the beholder and very dependent upon the display and audio system you have.  Less subjective are the other features of the PS3.  It is the only player as of now to be Profile 2.0 compliant.  It is also currently the fastest loading player.  It comes with a built in Ethernet port, as well as Wi-Fi, for Internet connectivity for Internet based bonus features and firmware upgrades.  In addition to being a great gaming machine, it's also a very competent streaming media client where you can listen to music, watch videos or view photos from a media server on your network.

There are areas that the PS3 does not excel at.  There are those that critisize the PS3 for it's lack of IR remote, though there are solutions for that.  Those with older A/V Receivers that don't have HDMI inputs must make do with the optical output of the PS3 (or worse, the stereo) and cannot enjoy the new audio codecs like Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD Master Audio.

Now, second best player?  The Panasonic DMP-BD30 is widely regarded and the DMP-BD50 is highly anticipated.
