Monopoly gets dubbed "Monotony" by a bunch of people on BGG.  For one thing, people don't play right.  You are NOT to put money under free parking, and when you land on a property, it is to go up for auction.  You also should ban dealmaking that creates "zombies".  This means you give up property and not have to pay rent if you land on it.  Done wrong, you take a game that should finish up in 3 hours, and turn it into a 6+ hour marathon.

I just bought a game a few weeks ago called "Imaginiff..."

Me, my husband, and 2 kids played the other night.  So what we did was put our 4 names on the board, along with 4 other people that we know (or know of...it could be someone like Britney Spears...as long as everyone playing knows who it is) and then you read from cards asking questions such as, "Imaganiff Britney Spears was a breakfast food...what would she be?"  and you get 6 choices...the most popular answer wins, and those people get to move forward on the board....it's funny because some of the questions are hilarious...it keeps you laughing!

Sorry, but Monopoly turns boring for me halfway through the game.  You can already tell who's going to win, but you have to keep playing for another 45 minutes to make it official.

I recommend Ticket To Ride by Days of Wonder.  It's very enjoyable for everyone middle school and up, and you don't have to be super-into gaming to like it.

Scrabble is never boring if you like word games.  One of the best is Mancala, simple and quick to play so a game is over too quickly for you to get bored, but it is an ancient game that is deceptively simple yet amazingly complex.  It is truly a winner and never boring.
