I think the best family board game to be released in the last few years is Ticket to Ride.

The rules are easy, it is different than mainstream monopoly type games, and most important it is fun.

Not cheap though.  Usually runs between $35-$49 at specialty game shops or online.  Not one that is carried at Toys R Us.

Cranium is great and good for the age you specified. It is like a combination of pictionary, trivia pursuit, charades, ect. You mold things with clay, hum songs or act like a celebrity for your team to guess. I play it with my family when we all get together and it is a blast. It has a little something for everyone to enjoy.

Mopst fun party/family game that I've played recently is "Wits & Wagers."  It's a great trivia game with some betting, and you can win the game without getting a single trivia question right (ask my 7 y/o daughter, she'll tell you).

You should be able to find it at any of the bog box stores in the game department, or online barring that.
