I guess I was just curious to know what types of training, schools of techniques, and strategies successful UFC fighters use to be excellent at hand-to-hand combat.

  1. Best MMA website for any topic is MMAturf.net You can speak to many fighters on their forum, I joined and love it. Check out MMAturf.net

  2. Eddie Bravo has some good BJJ books

BJ Penn has a awesome MMA book

those are the best MMA books I've seen and read

  3. A lot of the Victory Belt publishing stuff.

    Randy Couture's book

    Karo's book

    BJ's book

    Eddie's book

Victory Belt does a lot of great stuff.

They have a Fedor book coming out in September.

  4. Try OVGuide.com. They have a whole section devoted to MMA /UFC that includes free fight videos and also a lot of free instructional videos. You learn the most from watching them fight and hearing the commentary of someone who knows what they're talking about.

UFC fighters train almost overwhelmingly in Jiu-Jitsu, Wrestling, and Muay Thai/ Boxing. Basically the best fighter is going to be able to knock you out or damage you with strikes (Muay Thai, Boxing, Karate, etc). He will also need to know submissions both to choke out/ joint lock other fighters and defend themselves from submission holds (Jiu-Jitsu, Sambo, Submission Wrestling). Lastly he should be able to dictate whether the fight is fought standing or on the ground (Wrestling, Judo, etc)

    hope this helps
