There are SOOO many fantastic board games, but some of the classics and my favorites are:

I think it is definitely Scrabble.  But if you consider them board games, checkers, chess, and mancala are also great.

I think dogopoly is the best one. This is one of the many versions of monopoly, but instead of preoperties, there are dogs to buy! And it's really cool because houses are kennels and big bones are hotels, but it is just about the same rules as the classic version f monopoly.

Respectfully, most of those answers are -- uh, decent.  But there is one game that outshadows all of them.  I mean, sure, you've got your Scrabble and your Risk and all of your other "thinking man's games."  Then you've got your Pictionary and your Whatnot and your other "Party fun-time games."

But there's one game that combines and balances and gives you the PERFECT mix of fun and skill and all that.
