What is the best bored game out there???

What do you think the best bored game out there is- even if there isnt a real bored like guess who....

And what would you recommend for me? I like games like monopoly and Life, but i dont enjoy games like scrabble that much

Chess is the best board game, period.

Proof?  More books have been written about chess than all other games COMBINED!

Of course, chess isn't for everyone, but then NO game will please everyone!

Ok , now that you have all settled down.

The game is just so amazingly open. There is a wealth of material out there, so no two games are ever the same. You can do things that you could never do in real life. Be involved in full story plots. Not just a boring one sided game. Even monopoly, which is still a favorite of mine, is vanilla by comparison.

Get creative, live an adventure, take part in shaping a story, Give it a try.

**Side note : Did you know that a large majority of hollywood actors play or still play to this day? Even " Hardcore Tough Guys" like Vin Diesel play, and infact he wrote something for the special edition D&D handbook**

I think that the best board** game is Apples to Apples (which ROCKS!), Monopoly, and Life: Twists and Turns.

Based on 12,658 ratings on BoardgameGeek.com, Puerto Rico is ranked as the best board game with a rating of 8.39 out of 10.  In this game, there are zero dice.  Virtually nothing is based on luck.  You have to think through your best strategies and choose roles that help you the most until the colonists run out.  The person with the most "victory points" (common method for "Eurogames") at that time wins the game.  You can play it with 2-5 players in about 1-1.5 hours.

Try Mancala.  It is very easy to learn and to play, but it is totally addicting, a great board game.

Puerto Rico is good, but even better is Alhambra, Settlers of Catan and Carcassonne. :)
