  1. like the man said sticks dont make shots players do the tip is the only factor that makes or breaks a sticks performance hollow tip never heard of it mike massey is the crown king of english  if you put the hardest tip you can find scuff it and chalk and more chalk  the rest is up to you not the stick you might challenge him one day dont be in to big a hurry they dont call him tarzan for nothing

  2. A lot of good answers here. The brand and weight of the cue really has little to do with applying english to the cue ball. You need a tip that is properly shaped and scuffed. Apply an even amount of chalk. Too much or too little chalk is no good , you just want an even layer. Most importantly you want to deliver a smooth level stroke with plenty of follow through. When you stroke the cue ball shoot all the way through it. Follow through will make all the difference in the world.

  3. Any cue with a decent tip can get a lot of spin or english on the cueball. It depends on you really. I prefer a 20.5oz Predator or Viking cue.

  4. Weight means nothing in applying english. You need a good, round tip. Use chalk. The stroke and speed are the only determining factors in pool. By the way spin and english are the same thing.

I use a Meucci because I like the feel of the stick. I also use a 19 1/2 oz for the same reason. Any brand name stick is good.

    Practice is the key.

  5. The heavier the  better imo.  They have special hollowed out tips that give a little, and they are really responsible for the tremendous spin seen on tv

  6. The tip of the cue is the key to achieving lots of spin.  A softer tip will hold more chalk, but will also flatten out and mushroom quicker, thus, more maintenance.     The brand of the cue is irrelevant.  The weight of the cue is merely personal preference, however, I find a lighter cue of 18 ounces to be the best for spin merely because I can achieve a QUICKER stroke.  Imagine trying to accelerate a 21 ounce stick versus a light one, and you'll understand what I mean.

Above all, lots of practice, and more tip maintence will allow you to spin that 170 degree masse' shot!

  7. A house cue......your buddy's cue.....your cue will do.....the clue here is the cue tip being round and you just stroking the cue ball  and then PRACTICE.....PRACTICE....PRACTICE!!
